Anderson "The Spider" Silva Still the Best

I just want to squash any argument that Anderson Silva is no longer the king of MMA. The guy is taking a lot of heat lately because of the so called lack of excitement in his last fight. He easily beat each and every opponent put in front of him - excitement or not he dominated every fight. I'm sure that when he destroys Forrest Griffin (who happens to be a solid fighter) everyone will be back on the bandwagon but what's happening now is a bit unfair. Remember that this is the Silva that destroyed Rich Franklin twice and soundly defeated Dan Henderson. His combination of ju-jitsu and striking is amazing and unparalleled. He's at the top of the pound for pound heap and followed very closely only by Georges St. Pierre, Fedor Emelianenko and BJ Penn who all dominate their respective divisions.

The onus is on Dana White to put serious competition in front of Silva. We'll never see Manny Pacquiao fighting second tier fighters. It's only the Miguel Cotto's, Ricky Hatton's and Floyd Mayweather's of the world that would ever be considered for Pacman. The same needs to hold true for Spider Silva. I look forward to Silva's next fight but I wish there was someone out there that really got us excited about challenging Silva (and the answer is not Roy Jones Jr.).
